Step 4: Input Asset Information Once the meeting packets have been created, the next step is to enter asset information. The asset dialog in SettlementPro ™ is very similar to the asset dialog in FundingPro ™. © 2002 Advanced Planning Solutions, LLC
11
Step 4: Asset Information (cont.) The content of the various asset dialogs appear similar to FundingPro ™ ; however, there are some important differences. For example, the field in FundingPr o ™ called "New Ownership" is the "DOD Ownership" field in SettlementPro ™. The postmortem funding options that are available in SettlementPro ™ are intuitive. For example, if the “Date of Death” Ownership for an asset is in the individual name of the decedent, the "Funding" sub-dialog in the bottom right corner will not ungray. This asset would have to be probated and put into the name of the trust vis-à-vis the pour over will before it could be retitled to a beneficiary or to a subtrust. © 2002 Advanced Planning Solutions, LLC
12
Step 4: Asset Information (cont.) The asset dialog is also the place where you would enter the date of death value (or the six-month alternate valuation date) for the asset. For example, this is the dialog for Cash Accounts: Indicate how many trustees are required to sign. Indicate who you want account statements sent to. Enter the “Date of Death” values here. If this asset is fundable (i.e. not a probated asset), you can indicate how this asset is to be funded here. © 2002 Advanced Planning Solutions, LLC

Step 4: Asset Information (cont.) This screen is an example of the funding dialog for the asset we just looked at in the previous diagram. © 2002 Advanced Planning Solutions, LLC

Step 4: Asset Information (cont.) In this example, the cash asset is being funded to the Administrative Trust. “Pull down menu” options allow you to select from a variety of different funding options such as: Administrative Trust Common Trust Marital Trust Family Trust Beneficiary Separate Trust Share Outright Surviving Joint Owner POD/TOD Beneficiary A division of assets between the Marital and Family Trust © 2002 Advanced Planning Solutions, LLC
