Purposeful collection of student work that exhibits the student’s efforts, progress, and achievement in one or more areas. The primary goals are to 1) demonstrate proficiency in a set of standards 2) show growth over time.

Deep permanent learning requires a sense of ownership, an ability to assess and change, and a pride in work produced. Focused, in-depth reflection is the key. Not a digital scrapbook…it is a record of growth, development and character.

Goal statement Autobiography Resume/Scholarship resume Awards Outstanding Projects/Work Writing samples (1 each year) Persuasive essay College essay Community service journal

Portfolio Reflection Day Each year students review the contents and write final reflections on themselves as learners Teachers, counselors and administrators function as coaches while students work on their portfolios Professional Review Day (Seniors) Presentations

Resources…computers, scanner, materials Workshops…how can we get kids in to the workshops Career consultation---interview someone in the career they are interested in…come to Center for career interest testing…. Email accounts…they all need one for College Board activities
