Adverb or Adjective? 1. Find the modifying word in the sentence. 2. Figure out what word it is modifying. 3. If the word being modified is a noun or pronoun, the modifier is an adjective. 4. If the word being modified is a verb, adjective, or adverb, it is an adverb.

Adverb or Adjective? Raccoons take nightly trips for food. They can move very fast. They are not the only night prowlers. Raccoons come out in the daytime only if they are not feeling well. The raccoon came too late to find food.
