Solar Energy Jazmin and Frida.

Solar energy is the most efficient and free source of energy. We don’t need to know hoe to use it or fix it. It’s just free! Solar Energy:

Solar energy it’s good for the environment. It’s a cheap heat resource. Solar energy is easier to store. The way that solar energy stores: ◦ Solar collectors ◦ Solar storage tank. It’s the best renewable energy. Purpose of solar energy:

Social: ◦ Huge impact on its social environment ◦ Helps increase resources and conserve energy for the earth. ◦ Have more job opportunities Economic: ◦ More independence financially. ◦ Change the economy ◦ Have more money in their pockets Environmental: ◦ Save much water ◦ Protect the environment by enhancing it. ◦ World Wildlife and Plants Lifecycle. Consequences:

You can change solar energy to solar cells/panels. Photons  electrons  storage tank  DC  AC  house. Solar cells “Photovoltaic Cells (PV) ◦ This is the most common. ◦ Silicon. ◦ Other conductive materials in thin layers. Energy storage. How does it work?:

Is only useful during sun light hours Would limit its efficiency Competition against companies Workers are trying to invent new and better equipment What Interrupts? :

Not cheap at first. Cadium. Changes in the environment. Not anymore incentives from the U.S. Government. Obstacles for the energy :

Solar Water-Heater: ◦ No maximum credit after 2008. ◦ On or after Jan 1, 2006, and on or before Dec. 31, 2016. ◦ Must be certified for performance by the Solar Rating Certification Corporation, or endorsed by the U.S. Gov’t. ◦ Half of the energy used to heat the water has to be solar in order to be accepted. ◦ Solar Water-Heating for swimming pools and hot tubs doesn’t apply for tax credit. ◦ The house doesn’t have to be the tax payer’s principal residence. Solar-Electric Property: ◦ No maximum credit after 2008. ◦ On or after Jan 1, 2006, and on or before Dec. 31, 2016. ◦ The house doesn’t have to be the tax payer’s principal residence. Solar Energy in the U.S:

◦ Habitats are being lost ◦ It requires too much land ◦ Solar energy on farms could create heat island ecological damage to habitats loss ◦ Uses too much water ◦ Land footprints are being formed on farms. ◦ Utilizes are facing technical and economic challenges ◦ Companies are started to compete among each other. ◦ Solar power has a battery which will require a lot of place. And will need to be change time after time. ◦ Some of the solar products have dangers chemicals in it which are bad for the lungs. ◦ Chemicals inside:  Hydrochloride acid  Sulfuric acid  Nitric acid Hydrogen fluoride  Scetone ◦ Reduce pollution ◦ Stabilize economy ◦ Increase home safety. ◦ Populates remote locations. ◦ Health benefits:  Reduce premature mortality Impacts: Positiv e: Nega tive :

Solar panels that can't get sun light: ◦ Different idea that the panels and rely on when the sun isn't out. Habitats getting destroyed: ◦ People could create a shield behind the panels that won't damage the habits. ◦ Create a Chemical for the habitats that won't hurt them, or get damaged from the panels. Bad chemicals: ◦ Try different products that won’t harm as much. Competition: ◦ Companies should come to agreements. Solar products that require a lot of water: ◦ Find a different source to use instead of so much water. How can we fix the negative:

360 solar companies  Employs 3,600 people. In 2013 Colorado ranked 10 th nationally. Colorado ranks 8th in the country in installed solar capacity. There is enough solar energy installed in the state to power 68,600 homes. In 2013, $233 million was invested in Colorado to install solar for home, business and utility use. Prices in Colorado have fallen by 17% in the last year. Solar energy in Colorado:
