October 2012: Launch of our £165 million initiative January 2013: LAs invited to express an interest in the programme Spring 2014: We will award 3-5 grants, worth £30 - £50 million over 10 years Spring 2013: 40 LAs invited to submit a detailed bid Summer 2013: 15 VCS-led partnerships awarded £5 million to develop evidence-based plans Social and Emotional Development Nutrition

What next for young people? The evidence One in 10 young people – so three in every classroom – has a clinically diagnosable mental health problem (Young Minds). Rates of mental health problems increase during adolescence. Among teenagers, rates of depression and anxiety have increased by 70% in the past 25 years. Half of those with a lifetime mental illness first experience symptoms by the age of 14. Only 25% of young people needing treatment actually receive it.
