What is FPRA? Florida Public Relations Association o Student Capital Chapter A professional Association designed for all Tallahassee students interested in pursuing a career in public relations or communications o Tourism, agency, fashion, nonprofit, sports, public affairs, etc. At Bi-weekly meetings PR professionals speak to relevant industry topics and help students to workshop communications skills Networking with students and professionals

Fall Trip Every fall, FPRA takes an out-of-town professional development trip Past trips include Jacksonville, Atlanta and Orlando Dues-paying members are eligible to attend Includes visits to multiple agencies and communications departments and valuable networking opportunities within the selected city

Spring Trip Every spring, FPRA takes another out-of-town professional development trip, typically to a larger city Past trips include NYC, Chicago, Boston

Mentor/Mentee Program Are you planning on applying to the College of Communication and Information this year? If you are trying to get into one of the highly competitive communications programs, FPRA will match you up with a already admitted student to help guide you as you prepare your application Mentors help by answering any questions, editing resumes and cover letters, help to select writing samples and are available to simply chat about public relations experiences!

Scholarship Opportunities Each year, the FPRA Capital Chapter and Student Chapter give away scholarships to regular members

Chair Positions Want to get involved in the FPRA planning committee? Chair positions are a great way to do just that AND they are a great resume builder. You may apply for one of our chair positions in which you will be responsible for coming to executive board meetings and following through with your position’s specific tasks. Submit your interests by NEXT MEETING 9/16 or send applications to fprastudent@gmail.com.fprastudent@gmail.com The executive board needs your help in the following areas:

Social Chair Gain experience planning a total of four events throughout the year for all FPRA members Plans local fundraisers and socials Applications due next week, DATE

Trip Social Chair Works with the vice president to plan socials and peer networking activities for FPRA members to take place during the fall and spring trips. MUST plan on attending both the fall and the spring professional networking trip Applications due next week, DATE

Blogger Creates digital content for the FPRA website This includes blog topics such as our chapter’s experiences (recap trips and socials), feature articles about outstanding FPRA speakers or members and information students should be aware of like PR industry trends No application necessary to blog. Please send all drafts to FPRAstudent@gmail.com

So you want to join? Dues are $60 for the whole year. We accept cash or check Bring back the FPRA Student Capital Chapter application and Capital Chapter application to one of the next meetings with your dues Membership forms and dues and due by SEPT. 23. If we have not received them by then, we will take you off our email list and you will no longer be eligible to receive opportunities available to chapter members
