2. What is CodeChef ?? CodeChef is a global programming community which hosts contests, trainings and events for programmers around the world. Their goal is to provide a platform for programmers everywhere to meet, compete, and have fun. CodeChef is a noncommercial organization operated by Directi, an Indian software company based in Mumbai, India.

3. The CodeChef Family… CodeChef is not just a contest platform. It is a community for aspiring programmers. CodeChef hosts events online as well as in person. CodeChef supports anyone who wants to start their own CodeChef Campus Chapter or host a CodeChef Meetup. CodeChef Forums, Blogs, Facebook Group and Twitter stream help everyone stay updated, connected and in-the-loop. An overwhelming count of 25,000 people worldwide have joined CodeChef so far. And we are looking for students from our institution who can add to that figure.

4. Importance Of CodeChef CodeChef can serve as a platform, to help students improve their programming skills. This can be achieved by conducting workshops on C++, JAVA or any other object oriented programming languages, as students need practice to perfect this important topic. Organizing Events will add even more to develop programming skills, develop efficient logic to be versatile in solving any kind of programming problems. As CodeChef is a completely non-profit organisation, the events hosted by CodeChef are free of cost. So, minimal resources are required for campus events and workshops.

7. What are the benefits that the CodeChef Campus Chapters get? Around the globe exposure for the events organized by our chapter. We can share ideas and resources with other Campus Chapters and interact with their coders. Organize contests on CodeChef Platform for our college. Hosting and wikispace for managing our Campus Chapter web presence. Special Kit with T-Shirts and Posters and lots of other goodies. Special Mention on the CodeChef Campus Chapters page.

8. Forming the Committee The committee will consist of A student representative( President of the chapter) Faculty Advisor For forming a campus chapter, there should be a minimum of four student members (one from each year) and a faculty advisor. And, the selection of committee should be preferably done by interviews. Then, various responsibilities can be assigned to members, as a marketing head, a technical head, head of the website, head of social media etc. There are no special requirements by CodeChef for how many designations are to be given, it depends on the requirements of the campus chapter. !! 9. Forming the Committee A notice around the campus asking students to join the core committee, should be circulated and the student and the faculty representative should filter out the students preferably by conducting interviews or in a way which is suitable. There is no upper limit for the number of members in the committee. They just want maximum participation. The organizing committee is to be formed by the college itself, by faculty members to choose the appropriate ones. Regular meetings can be conducted so as to make progress, plan future events and other campus activities

10. Hosting of Events by CodeChef They can host and publicize our online contest on codechef.com at no cost. The contest can accept solutions in 35+ programming languages like C, C++, Java, Python to name a few. They will provide CodeChef T-shirts, laptop stickers etc as giveaways for our contest. They can design banners to feature on the home page and contest landing page of their site. They will announce our contest in our Monthly Newsletter that goes out to their user base (20,000+ extremely targeted audience) They will ensure that our contest sponsors receive optimum visibility through CodeChef

11. Hosting of Events by CodeChef CodeChef offers to host events online. All we need to do, is provide tentative date of the event to them. They will give us confirmed time slot on a specific day for the event to be held. We will have to provide them with the set of questions, and they will give us a domain on which the event can be held and the assessment will be done online by their compilers. The event will be just as the CodeVita( conducted by TCS ). The results will be declared by them and accordingly goodies and prizes will be awarded by them. As they give free hosting, the registration cost for interested students will be minimum, which will attract maximum people.
