The Museé d’Orsay Historical art museum. On the river Seine. Only 18 years old. Was built in 1986 to represent all of the arts from the second half of the 19 th century. Used to be an old railway station. Built by Gae Aulenti.

Facts Has three floors of paintings and sculptures from 1848 to 1914. Was nearly destroyed by a hotel developer. Was called Gare d’Orsay as a railway station. Gare d’Orsay was closed in 1939.

Les Invalides Largest single collection/complex of monuments in Paris. 2 blocks away from Eiffel Tower. Built by Louis XIV. Burial site for France’s war heroes. Was built from 1671 to 1676. Is 328 years old.

Facts Used to house wounded soldiers. Was a retirement home for war heroes. All buildings relate to France’s military history. Full name was “Hopital des Invalides, which means, “Hospital for invalides.” Napoleon’s tomb is in the dome.
