iSchool Research Who is Doing What? Go to research conversations Look at faculty web pages, especially project pages Talk with PhD students Talk with the iSchool GAs

iSchool Research How to Approach Someone Talk with your professors - visit during office hours. They’re lonely! Meet with your advisor. Change advisors. Help with a research project: –Volunteer –Get credit as an independent study –Find out if they have funding for a part-time job. They might! Hang out in the iSchool reception area

iSchool Research Doing an Independent Study Take a project you’ve worked on for a class and expand on it Look at what faculty members are already doing and expand on it Think about a problem you see and try to solve it Use the faculty advisor to help develop the independent study Ask Marie to review it
