13. What would being a Sustainable Schools Ambassador involve? Every Ambassador will be asked to do at least one activity per term that helps to make their school more sustainable. With the other ambassador from your school try to think about what your school already does and what more it could do to promote the different types of care. Write your ideas onto the sheet.

15. Sustainable Schools Doorways The government has split up the ways that schools can become more sustainable into 8 different ‘doorways’. Each table here has been allocated one doorway (in their envelope). Quickly discuss what you think your doorway might involve and write your ideas onto the bottom. Be prepared for one person to feedback to everyone else.

25. Lunchtime Help yourself to lunch! Try to do the quiz which is on your table (there will be prizes for the winning team). Try and put some more ideas down on your ‘doorway’ sheet that was in your envelope. Each group needs to try and get 10 ideas.

26. What did you learn this morning? Find the sheet in your folder with Sustainable Schools Doorway ideas written at the top. Share any good ideas you picked up this morning with the people on your table. Try to get at least one idea for each doorway and write it into the relevant box. You also need to try and make sure you have 10 ideas written onto your doorway sheet..

29. 3 changes you’d like to see in your school What change do you want to see? Which type of care is this linked to? Which ‘doorway’ is this linked to? Does this change involve your curriculum, your campus or your community? 1 2 3 With the other Ambassador from your school try to identify 3 things you’d like to change in your school that relate to being a more Sustainable School. The sheet is in the back of your folder. If you are finding it difficult to fill this in then ask the secondary school pupils on your table or a teacher to help you.

31. What next? Meet with your teacher and log the ‘Changes’ you’d like to see in your school onto the Wiki. Start planning your first term’s activities. You could do this individually or with the other Ambassador from your school. Make sure you speak to the teacher in charge of the Ambassadors in your school to discuss your ideas and get their advice to help with your planning. Keep an eye open for newspaper or magazine articles and TV programmes that are linked to sustainability. You might be able to use some of this material to help you inform others in your school.
