5. Why a Website Initially, there was no plan to do a website Looked to technology for answers to managing internal project communications Looked to technology as a tool for settlement workers: –professional development –support for their work

Website Priorities End user: settlement worker/bilingual/bi-cultural worker End user the “driver” for website content & design Need to think like end users - how they will use the site and what information is needed for clients Need answers fast – only have 20 to 30 mins per client Workers need hands-on training and reinforcement Not assume all immigrant groups will use this tool easily – access & literacy issues Easy navigation, clear graphics, large print, simple language
