2 The evaluation focused on –Communication gaps –Cross-cutting themes General direction from the Commissioners in Vancouver was to look at these two issues and Ad Hoc Partnership on Education

3 Accomplishments: 1) Improving Communications a) Rick Scott, Liaison Volunteer Retired, Spanish-speaking Forest Service employee Attended several Working Group and BOA meetings b) Integrated Working Group Meeting First meeting to convene all Working Groups and BOA; 50 participants attended Recommendation by participants to convene meeting every 3-5 years c) Continued update of the website by the WB

4 Accomplishments: 2. Exploring Cross-Cutting Themes a) Organized Integrated Working Group Meeting Three cross-cutting themes identified (Ecosystem Resiliency, North American Forest Database, Forest Sector Competitiveness)

5 Other Accomplishments: 3) Support to Working Groups –Responded to requests for $65K USD total (Insects and Diseases, Forest Genetics & and Inventory and Monitoring WGs) –During Integrated Working Group Meeting, 5 Working Groups held their annual sessions. 4) Ad hoc Partnership on Education (Canada) 5) Three meetings (San Francisco, Arlington, and San Juan) 6) Several conference calls

6 Thematic Working Group Chairs –Steve McNulty, Ecosystem Resilience –Fred Beall, North American Forest Database –Al Mitchell, Forest Sector Competitiveness

7 Issues Raised at Integrated Working Group Meeting –How to raise the profile of NAFC –How to garner more financial and institutional support for the Working Group members –What is the audience of NAFC (high and mid-level policy makers, FAO, scientific community) –How to manage and transmit knowledge contained within the collective body of NAFC
