A formalized approach by Rotary International to ensure student safety Rotary is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for all participants in Rotary activities It is the duty of all Rotarians, Rotarians’ spouses, partners, and other volunteers to safeguard to the best of their ability the welfare of and to prevent the physical, sexual or emotional abuse of children and young people with whom they come into contact.

4. 4 March 2010 Why are we asking for this? Legal requirement under the rules of D5040 incorporation To protect you and your Rotary Club To protect us, D5040 has a $1 Million rider for abuse in our club insurance policies

5. 5 March 2010 Let’s Jump on board! How do we get certified? Volunteer Information Sheets Criminal Record Checks Must be updated every 5 years

6. 6 March 2010 How should we handle this is our clubs? Designate a Certification Coordinator Distribute the volunteer forms and a CRC form to each Rotarian who works with youth – don’t forget the spouses and partners If there is a cost to get a CRC, perhaps the club should agree to pay the cost Collect the forms and CRCs and send the completed forms to Sue Godey
