1. Jab pareshan hui

2. جب پریشان ہوئی، مولا کی جماعت رن میں Jab pareshan hui, maula ki jamat ran mein At the time when Maula’s troop was anxious in the battle-field

3. ہر نمازی کو، پسند آئی، اقامت رن میں Har namazi ko pasand aai iqamat ran mein All those pious people found solace in prayer in the battle-field

4. قبلہ دیں نے کیا، قصدِ عبادت رن میں Qibla-e-deen ne kiya qasd-e-ibadat ran mein The Imam made the intention of prayer in the battle-field

5. شکلِ محراب بنی تیغِ، شہادت رن میں Shakl-e-mehrab bani tegh-e-shadat ran mein The raised swords for their martyrdom appeared like arches of a mosque to them

6. غل ہوا اس کو امامِ، دوجہاں کہتے ہیں Ghul hua iss ko Imam-e-do jahan kehtay hain There was uproar, that this is certainly the Imam of this world and the next

7. تیغوں کے سائے میں شبّیر، اذان کہتے ہیں Teghon ke saaye mein Shabbir, azan kehtay hain And in the shade of swords Shabbir said the call for prayers

8. نیم بسمل نے زباں سے، جو کہا بسم اللہ Neem bismil ne zuban se, jo kaha Bismillah Almost ready for martyrdom Hussain said bismillah

9. تیر مارا ابو، ایّوب نے، لب پر ناگاہ Teer mara Abu Ayyub ne, lab par nagah Abu Ayyub shot an arrow on his lip suddenly

10. در سے سیدانیاں، چلائیں، کہ انّا للہ Dar se Saydaniyan chillaeen ke, inna lillah From the tents the ladies cried, we are from Allah

11. ہائے یہ ظلم نمازی پہ، عیازاً باللہ Haye yeh zulm namasi peh, iyazan billah Oh this cruelty on one who is praying, Allah provide him refuge

12. واجب القتل کو بھی آب و، غذا کی مہلت Wajib-ul-qatl ko bhi aab-o-ghiza ki muhlat Even one on death row gets a break for food and water

13. جانِ زہرہ کو نہیں فرضِ، خدا کی مہلت Jaan-e-Zehra ko nahin farz-e-khuda ki muhlat The darling of Zehra does not get a break to say a prayer to God

14. آہ، آخر جو ہوئی شہ کی، نمازِ آخر Aah, akhir jo hoi sheh ki, namaz-e- akhir Oh when finally the last prayer of Hussain happened

15. دیکھا خنجر لئے، بالیں پہ، کھڑا ہے کافر Dekha khanjar liye, baleen pe, khara hai kafir An infidel was standing next to the fallen Imam

16. ننگے سر در پہ ہے، سب آلِ، رسولِ طاہر Nangay sar dar pe hai, sab aal-e- rasool-e-tahir Without veils watched the family of prophet from their tents

17. ملک الموت پکارا کہ، ہوں میں بھی حاضر Malik-ul-maut pukara ke, hoon mein bhi haazir The angel death proclaimed that I am present as well

18. تیغِ قاتل نے کہا حلق کی، خاطر ہوں میں Tegh-e-qatil ne kaha halq ki, khatir hoon mein The sword of the murderer declared that I am ready for the throat

19. شہ نے فرمایا کہ تقدیر پہ، شاکر ہوں میں Sheh ne farmaya ke taqdeer pe, shakir hoon mein And the Imam said that I am completely content with my fate

20. خنجرِ ظلم کو چمکا کے، پکارا دشمن Khanjar-e-zulm ko chamka ke pukara dushman The enemy soldier sharpened his sword and asked

21. بوساگاہِ نبوی، کاٹوں، میں اب یا گردن Bosagah-e-nabawi katoon mein ab ya gardan Should I cut the lips or this neck that the prophet used to kiss?

22. بولے شہ جس میں تو، راضی ہو، نہیں جائے سخن Bolay sheh jis mein tu raazi ho nahin jaye sukhan The Imam replied calmly, whichever you want, I won’t stop you

23. حلق یہ حلقِ نبی ہے، یہ بدن ان کا بدن Halq ye halq-e-nabi hai, ye badan un ka badan Know that this neck is the Prophet’s neck, this body is his body

24. دیکھ سر ننگے ہر اک حورِ، جناں آتی ہے Dekh sar nange har ik hoor-e-jinan aati hai Look, even the maidens from the paradise now come with their heads unveiled

25. ابھی سینہ پہ نہ چڑھنا، میری ماں آتی ہے Abhi seenay peh na charhna, meri maan aati hai Just hold on for a few moments, my mother should be coming soon

26. قافلہ لٹ گیا امّاں میرا، لشکر نہ رہا Qafla lut gaya amma mera, lashkar na raha O mother my whole caravan was destroyed and my army is no more

27. جدِ امجد کی، نشانی، علی اکبر نہ رہا Jad-e-amjad ki nishani Ali Akbar na raha My grandfather’s reminder Ali Akbar, is no more

28. رہ گیا دردِ کمر، ہائے، بردار نہ رہا Reh gaya dard-e-kamar, haye, biradar na raha My back is broken; my brother Abbas is no more

29. اب خبر آپ نے لی گھر کی، جب گھر نہ رہا Ab khabar aap ne li ghar ki, jab ghar na raha O now you ask about us mother, when the whole household is no more

30. ایک میں ہوں تو مجھے ذبح کی، مشتاقی ہے Aik mein hoon to mujhe zibha ki mushtaqi hai I am the last one, and I have a desire for martyrdom

31. بوساگاہِ نبوی کٹنے کو، اب باقی ہے Bosagah-e-nabawi katnay ko baaqi hai This neck, kissed by the prophet, is all that remains to be cut

32. آئی زہرہ کی صدا، شمر تو نابینا ہے Aai Zehra ki sada, Shimr tu nabeena hai Zehra let out a wail, Shimr you are blind

33. در پہ زینب نہیں، بالیں پہ، مگر زہرہ ہے Dar pe Zainab nahin baaleen pe, magar Zehra hai It’s not Zainab standing in the doorway, but Zehra standing next to you

34. ارے بے رحم، خطا میرے، پسر کی کیا ہے Aray berehm, khata mere pisar ki kya hai O you merciless person, what was the crime of my son?

35. آستین الٹی ہے کیوں، تیغ کو کیوں کھینچا ہے Aasteen ulti hai kyun, tegh ko kyun khencha hai Why have you rolled back your sleeves and unsheathed your sword

36. کیا اسے پالا تھا میں نے، ترے خنجر کے لئے Kya isse paala tha mein ne, teray khanjar ke liye Did I raise him up for this dagger or yours?

37. میرے بچے کو نہ کر ذبح، پیمبر کے لئے Mere bhachay ko na zibha kar, payambar ke liye Don’t slaughter my son, for the sake of the Prophet
