Preliminaries Work in pairs to write short descriptions of the school classroom. Imagine that you just landed your dream job and are excited. How would you decorate and arrange this room in that case?

Focus Lesson: Imagery… Literary Terms Imagery Figurative Language Simile Metaphor Poetry Readings “Moons” (Elements… p. 456) “Grape Sherbert” (Elements… p. 468) “Three Japanese Tankas” (Elements… p. 490) Small Groups: choose 1 poem and identify all aspects of imagery in the poem.

Focus Lesson: Homework By 12/19, complete the “Try a Tanka” exercise in Elements… p. 492 using a theme (love of a person, thing, etc.)
