“Tele” Definition: Far, distant Example word: telescope – (noun) an optical instrument designed to make distant objects appear nearer Sentence: Last night, I used the telescope to look at Jupiter.

“Therm” Definition: heat Example word: thermophile – an organism that has adapted to living at very high temperatures. Sentence: The bacteria were thermophiles and were able to thrive inside the boiling hot geyser water.

“Gram/Graph” Definition: Write, something written Example word: orthography – (noun) - the way in which the words of a language are spelled Example sentence: The teacher was sure to enforce orthography in all her students’ essays.

“Scop” Definition: target, view, see Example Word: Microscopic – (ADJ) – so small as to be visible only with a microscope Example Sentence: The DNA cell was so microscopic I couldn’t even see it through my microscope.
