Wally Olins- Designer Wally Olins is generally recognized to be the world’s most experienced practitioner of Corporate identity and branding. Wally Olins was born in London, is married and has four children. After studying history at Oxford he went into advertising in London. He was sent to India and his first big job was as head of what became Ogilvy and Mather in Mumbai where he lived for five years. India influenced him hugely. He came back to London and co founded Wolff Olins. There he was Chairman until 1997. From 2001 Wally Olins became Chairman of Saffron Brand Consultants of London, Madrid, Mumbai and New York.

Wally Olins It was his branding consultancy that changed British Telecom into BT and invented the Orange name. He was awarded a CBE in 1999 and has written numerous books including Wally Olins On Brand and Wally Olins: The Brand hand book

Wolff Olins Wolff Olins is a brand consultancy, based in London, New York City and Dubai. Wolff Olins was founded in Camden Town, London, in 1965 by designer Michael Wolff and advertising executive Wally Olins. Wolff left the business in 1983, and Olins in 2001, though both are still active in the field of branding. From 1965 to the early 1990s, Wolff Olins developed corporate identities for various large European companies. Olins defined corporate identity as "strategy made visible", and the firm worked with companies including BOC (1967), Prudential (1986) and BT (1991). From the 1990s onwards, Wolff Olins focused more on corporate branding. The company's branding work includes Volkswagen's VAG branding (1978), First Direct (1989), Orange (1994), Heathrow Express (1998), Tate (2000), GE (2004).

Wally Olins believes that corporate identity is the whole feeling you get when you buy something from a company. He has said: “It seemed sensible to present the idea of the company as a whole, through it’s products, environment and behaviour rather than just through …advertising”

Your Task 1.Create an A3 research board on the designer Wally Olins 2.Research and find interesting information about him (read interviews and articles- don’t just use Wikipedia!!!) and his companies, find images of his past and present work. 3.Find out what the term ‘branding’ and ‘corporate identity’ means. 4.Present the board in an interesting designer style inspired by Wally Olins. 5.You can include your own opinion and thoughts. 6.Design a new corporate identity for a charity of your choice inspired by the work of Wally Olins
