Draughts
2
Introduction Draughts is played on the same chequered board as chess and has been played in Europe since the end of the 1100s. It is similar to a game called Alquerque played in Ancient Egypt.
3
Aim The aim is to capture all your opponents pieces or to immobilise them.(make them lose when you move and they cant) The board is placed with a white square on the right bottom corner and each side has 12 pieces which are placed on the dark squares
4
Moving and capturing They can only move diagonally forward only cap but not backwards and they capture by leaping over the opponents piece and when a piece is captured it is removed off the board(jump means to leap or capture)
5
Kings When a piece reaches the end of the board it becomes a king and can go both backwards and forwards. It s far more powerful than normal checkers.
6
Conclusion With its simple moves you might think that draughts is a slow straightforward game. However, if you make one false move it can lead to instant disaster.
