3 Hypatia of Alexandria 370- 415 wrote commentaries on conics and astronomical works head of the Platonist school at Alexandria brutally murdered by the Nitrian monks

4 Maria Gaëtana Agnesi 1718- 1799 published a series of essays on philosophy and natural science two volume work Instituzioni analitiche ad uso della gioventù italiana discussed cubic curve now know as the 'witch of Agnesi'

5 Caroline Lucretia Herschel 1750- 1848 pointed out 560 stars omitted from Flamsteed’s Observations of the Fixed Stars A minor planet was named Lucretia made many astronomical observations
