Cloud Computing Many different ideas of what it is but the most common is: virtual servers available over the internet What it does? – increases capacity – adds capabilities without investing in new infrastructure, training new personnel, or licensing new software Includes any subscription based or pay-per-use service that increases IT’s existing capabilities in real time over the internet Some different types are: – SaaS (software as a service), – utility computing, – services in the clouds, – platform as a service, – managed service providers (MSP)
