Sun By: Elisabeth And Mia

Size About 864,000 miles (1.4 million kilometers wide) It could hold 109 planet Earths across it’s surface. The sun can fit more than a million Earth’s inside it. The sun looks so small but actually it is just super far away.

Shape The shape of the sun is a sphere. It is not a circle because then the sun would be flat. The sun is not flat.

Location  The location of the sun is in space. If the sun was any where else we would die because If it was to far a way from the earth we would not get light and it wouldn’t be warm enough for us to live. If it was to close to the earth we would also die because the sun is so hot. The sun is the center of our solar system.

Composition The surface of the sun is made of gases called an atmosphere, surrounded. The sun sometimes has great blasts of energy, called solar flares, erupt from the inner atmosphere. The outer atmosphere is called the corona.

Ability to support life No, the sun can’t support life because it is to hot. Also if it did support life we would die because of the heat.

Ability to produce light Yes, the sun is able to produce light because it is one of the lighest and warmest star in the solar system. Also if it didn’t produce light it would be pitch black. Also we couldn’t live if it didn’t produce light.

Facts The sun is very hot, reaching 3,600,000°f (2,000,000˚c) The sun is about 109 times bigger than earth’s diameter. The sun is the brightest star in the solar system. Also the sun is way larger than the earth and the moon. The sun has been shining for at least 4 billion years. It is now mostly hydrogen with some helium. Billions of years in the future the sun will use up all it’s hydrogen fuel. Eventually it will stop shining.

sources The sources we used were britannica online and national geographic-science and space-sun.
