3. In May 2000 the United States Attorney General published a report titled Oral Health in America

4. He Called Oral Disease “The Silent Epidemic”

5. “1/3 of all adults never see a dentist; of those 100 million, 47 million live where access is difficult.” That number includes many retirement facilities throughout the US

6. The report linked diabetes, heart disease, stroke, pancreatic cancer, pneumonia and in some cases death to oral disease.

7. My license was in response to this report. Governor Ed Rendell signed into law that a PHDHP could see patients independently of a dentist

8. He felt more of the population would have access to convenient affordable dental health services

9. There are many ways to protect our overall health, certainly regular dental health checkups and cleanings is a proven one

10. Using state of the art portable equipment, I set up a dental room at each facility

14. I am able to provide on site dental health services. This eliminates the cost of transportation to dental visits and cuts down on the higher cost of private practice dentistry

15. Bedside care is routinely done in skilled nursing facilities where residents can be non ambulatory
