The Glass Castle Jeannette Walls chronicles her very turbulent, dysfunctional family and their adventures as they move across the country and dwell in poverty. In spite of this upbringing, Jeannette graduates college and becomes an award winning news reporter in NYC.

Same Kind of Difference as Me Same Kind of Different As Me is another excellent memoir that tells the story of Ron Hall, a successful art dealer in Fort Worth and Denver Moore, a homeless man who lives in a shelter in Fort Worth. Both men share their personal stories of growing up in vastly different environments, and how a woman’s faith and love changed them.

Discuss the following about your novel. Know plot elements. Describe the characters. Are they static or dynamic. Explain. Which character(s) did you identify with? Why? What is the author’s purpose? What is the theme? What is the setting? Identify any “a-ha” moments. Did you enjoy the book? Why? Why not? **Make sure you answer the four questions that are on- line regarding your selection. Six Word Memoirs Think about your life past and/or present and using only 6 words, tell your story. You can Google six word story or memoirs on-line and find examples. Here are a few examples too. Busy mom, constantly going, needs sabbatical. Hard life, getting better, moving on. Knocked down, dragged up, fighting back. Happy times, good memories, making more.
