Facility Study 2007-08 History Doug Pretty introduces Bill McCarthy, McCarthy & Smith, to Pastor Doug Blaikie. Doug Pretty and Bill McCarthy met with members of Building Committee in July 2007 to explain what and how a Facility Study could be accomplished.

Facility Study 2007-08 History August 2007 - Building Committee hires architects Wilkie & Zanley and construction manager McCarthy & Smith to conduct Facility Study which will lead to conceptual drawings, estimated costs and schedule.

Facility Study 2007-08 History Summer/Fall 2007 Onsite investigating, discussions with city conducted by Wilkie & Zanley. Preliminary concepts presented in September 2007 to Building Committee. Committee directs team to further study additions option.

Facility Study 2007-08 History McCarthy & Smith prepares cost estimates and schedule options. Team presents report to Building Committee on December 19, 2007.

Building Committee Concerns Fellowship Hall (Old Building) – Barrier-free access to lower and main levels – Multi-purpose space, air-conditioned Church services in summer Social/fellowship activities Youth group activities – Additional columbarium space and inventory – Develop shower space for annual outreach programs – Develop designated storage areas – Upgrade electrical service to facilities

Scenarios to Consider Scenario #1 – Construct barrier-free addition and associated site work – Construct columbarium addition and associated basement storage – Barrier-free restrooms (Main Church) $1,300,000 Alternate for Development of Office Area $30,000

Options to Consider Scenario #2 – Construct the multi-use addition at a later time. $1,300,000 Alternate for shower room facilities $20,000 Cost is based on 2008 construction dollars. Average price escalation per year is 4-5%.

Options to Consider Scenario #3 – Construct both scenarios at the same time. (Represents a cost savings achieved through less redundant general condition and supervision costs.) $2,500,000
