6 Using Church and Dioceses Guidelines demonstrate compliance of all money handling and safeguarding practices with zero discrepancies.  Identify the reasons for and describe the two person rule when handling cash  Complete steps of opening and processing the weekly offertory envelopes and loose cash  Practice fundraising receipt procedures

7 The Two Person Rule What is it??? Why does it matter???

8 Two person rule  Money will be accompanied by two people at all times.  When money is placed in the bank bags—one person places the money. Then a second person LOCKS the bag.

9 Money Counting Teams adhere to the following:  Two people must be in the money counting office at all times when money is out in the open  Two people will accompany the bank bags of cash and checks to drop in the safe.

10 During a fundraiser, TWO PEOPLE WILL:  Count all cash and checks  Document all checks  Document all totals  Cash and checks along with log sheet will be placed in sealable, serialized bags  Drop the serialized bag into the drop safe in the church office.

11 Protects YOU and the church!! The two person rule is designed to not only protect the church, but protect you as well.
