2 NEED FOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT India will require huge number of skilled manpower in the next decade. India over the next five years will have more than one crore of un-trained and under-educated people. India will fall short of real talent. Our graduates do no possess skills required by the industry. Thus there is a gap between the requirement of the industry and the availability and need to fill it.

3 TYPES OF SKILL’S REQUIRED Technical Conceptual Soft Skills

4 STRATEGY REQUIRED Market research and need identification. Setting up of new institutions in different areas. Equipping existing institutions with resources. Creating a pool of talented resourse persons Enhancing industry-institute linkage. Institutions to start vocational courses.

5 STRATEGY REQUIRED Language, computer literacy and financial literacy skills to be made compulsory. Use of technology. Create a data base of job opportunities. Integration and coordination amongst different departments. Linking of training programmes with employment. Focus on small and micro enterprises.

6 INITIATIVES AT D. A. UNIVERSITY Departments like I.M.S, I.I.P.S, I.E.T., SoCS, E.M.R.C, DoLLL engaged in imparting technical, conceptual, soft skills and vocational training. Language Laboratory. Workshops / Seminars in required areas. Vocational courses in interior designing, handicraft, etc. Career counseling. Training for group discussions and interviews.

7 FUTURE PLAN Short term courses and workshops. Regular up gradation of skills of working professionals. Continuous need identification and need anticipation. Personality development using innovative techniques such as dramatics.
