Activity 2B: Water Conservation Survey State a hypothesis: _______________________________________________ Construct a Questionnaire (see page 34, textbook) to conduct a survey to test your hypothesis. Decide on a suitable target audience, date and place to carry out the survey to find out if there is a water conservation culture in Singapore.

Is there a water conservation culture in Singapore? Hypothesis o Eg Singaporeans do not try to conserve water at home o Eg Girls have good water conservation habits. Questions to ask o What are some important / good water conservation habits? o List 6-8

Audience o Must align with hypothesis o Eg if about girls – must have equal number of boys and girls o Eg if on Singaporeans – make sure have equal number of Singaporeans and others o This is needed to draw fair conclusions Sample size o The bigger the better o Minimum 40 /50 per group

Form of survey - face-to-face Can clarify doubts immediately Be polite, etc (see page 35, textbook) Questionnaire o See page 34 o State purpose of survey o Get personal information o Survey questions on water conservation habits(make sure they are clear) o Use yes/no questions or give some options o Open ended answers should be limited to 1-2 only

Collate results o Tabulate (not in final presentation) o add and tabulate the responses in a table o Present data o Use simple line graph (see page 60) o Or pie chart (see page 63, 64) o Analyse o Do you see a pattern? o Does the data support your hypothesis?
