2 “Germ” means vital or related  Germs are everywhere!  In Science you learn about seed germination.  What does it mean to be a germaphobe?

3 “Greg” means group  Blue whales congregate together while sleeping.  Gregarious-means to be fond of the company of others. What does it mean to segregate your garbage?

4 “Mar” means sea  The Marine Core is a department of the Navy.  In the “Cold War” submarines were used often.  Why do you think Seattle named their baseball team the Mariners?

5 “Prim” means first  Many scientists consider the chimpanzee to be a primate of humans.  Primitive means early or basic.  What does it mean to be a Prima Ballerina?

6 “Pyro” means fire  Many fourth of July shows use pyrotechnics.  Pyro is a character in the X-Men series.  What do you think it means to be pyrophobic?

7 “Clam” means cry out  What does it mean to clamor for your voice to be heard?  Some people love to use exclamation points.  An exclamatory sentence is one that makes a bold statement or cries out for attention.

8 “Plu” means more  Plural means more than one.  A plus sign is used to show addition in math.  What does it mean to be nonplussed?

9 “Tang” means touch  What are tangent lines in math?  Tangible means to perceive through touch.  This ball is a tangled mess.

10 “String” means bind  We use string to tie things together.  Spaghetti is very stringy.  What is astringent used for?

16 “Dign” means worthy  President Obabma is a dignitary of The United States of America.  Maya Angelou is a person of great dignity.  What does it mean to suffer from an indignation?

17 “Luc” means light  This fish is translucent.  Lucidity means the capacity to perceive the truth directly and instantaneously.  What does it mean to have a lucid dream?

18 “Rupt” means break  The loud music disrupted the student from studying.  To “erupt” means to burst from limits or restraints.  What does it mean to be corrupted?

19 “Grat” means pleasing  Teaching is a gratifying career.  To show “gratitude” means to show thankfulness and appreciation for something.  What does it mean to be an ingrate?

24 “Migr” means wander  America has many immigrants.  To migrate means to move from one area to another.  What is a migraine?

25 “Trans” means across  In the hospital some people may need a transfusion of blood.  Transmit means to be sent or conveyed from one person or place to another.  What does it mean to transfer something?

26 “Gamy” means marriage  Monogamy means to be married to one person.  The Amish people believe in endogamy (marriage within their own religious group).  What does polygamy mean?
