Importance of Studying Personal Relationships in School-aged Children In order to recognize that a) children develop skills that are needed to initiate and maintain social relationships and to resolve social conflicts. b) relationships help to build self-confidence within children. c) those who fail to develop positive personal relationships experience isolation and may become truant in school. These students may also fall victim to the influence of delinquent and drug and alcohol abusing peers.

3. Relevance of Studying Personal Relationships to School-aged Children The study of relationships helps children to understand themselves as individuals and members of various groups. The understanding of familial and peer relationships will allow the children to relate to people in the wider world. Children need to be exposed to opportunities that make them aware of the dynamics of social relationships and interactions revolving around their common needs, beliefs and interests.
