“A Giving Church” Missions Conference 2013 Philippians 4:10-20

The Early Church In Missions This young church has its priorities right. Acts16:12 The Philippi church had lost contact with Paul for 2 yrs. After his arrest in Jerusalem; they lost touch with him. He had been transferred to a Roman prison. Despite desperate circumstances he “rejoiced” The book is a “Thank You” for the renewed gifts

Philippians 4:10-20 Introduction to the chapter: (4:4-7) The Provision of Peace: (4:8) The Provision of Pure Thoughts (4:10-20) The Provision for the Preacher:

Paul’s Circumstances: (10-11) PRINCIPLE: My Circumstances do not control me; Christ does.

Paul’s Contentment: (11-13) PRINCIPLE: ONE WHO TOTALLY TRUSTS CHRIST and SAYS, “I Can Through Christ”

Paul’s Celebration: (14-17) PRINCIPLE: It is a Church wide decision to support missions.

Paul’s Confidence: (18-19) Two points about this churches stewardship: 1. They gave sacrificially: 2. Their giving created a need; God would fill it. PRINCIPLE: The Christian is asked to give; that will create the need; God will meet the need from His Riches; This gives Him ultimate Glory!

Deut. 15:10 “You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand.”
