In the first half the match was quite equal in terms of both possession and scoring chances. Both teams worked hard and put a lot of pressure on each other meaning neither side had much time on the ball to get their head up and play. However, credit has to be given to Daijahn and Callum who both did exactly what was asked of them; they showed for the ball at every opportunity and looked to play football from the back. Callum in particular was very composed on the ball. Kadeem and Cairo both showed glimpses of what they could do as Kadeem's strength and Caros trickery caused several problems for Greenholm, however, their defense stood up to the task and were often first to the ball. Jowell and Francis in the middle of the park both worked tirelessly up and down the pitch, and made several vital interceptions. Unfortunately it was Greenholm who took the lead, a shot deflected of Callum, wrong-footed josh and went in to the net. After this Great Barr still created chances. The Greenholm keeper made a great save from a long range effort and unfortunately for him, Kalid missed an open goal – Cairo managed to dribble down the left and get a cross in, which fell to Kalid but he could quite sort his feet quick enough to score. The biggest thing for us to do this half was to make sure that our heads didn’t drop. The players were asked to continue playing football from the back and to be patient, keep creating chances as we were confident we could score. Cairo and Kadeem were asked to get themselves in to the game a little bit more and to try to react to things a little bit quicker. Kalid moved in to CM for a while, where he worked hard, did well on the ball and made some good tackles. Cairo began to run the show in the second half, his trickery causing constant problems down the left. He was getting in cross after cross and soon enough Kadeem found himself on the end of one…but unfortunately his left footed volley was blocked by a defender. Then Daijahn won a massive 50/50 challenge which sprung a counter attack and we scored to make it 1-1. Kadeem with the equalising goal. From that point we had the momentum and continued to create chances, some being blocked by defenders, some by the goalkeeper and some going narrowly wide. Cairo eventually went on to score the winner for Great Barr.
