2 You can make a difference, we need your talents HE is now highly competitive To be successful in that competition is important Resources are limited – maximum effect from use of resource is essential Academic Freedom will be enhanced by success The University has identified ‘leadership capacity’ as a key risk Leadership in HE Why is this important?

3 Engage with the University’s strategy One university, one team Vision and strategy into an operational plan Communicate +++ Outstanding use of resources Problem solving ‘can do’ attitude Stay calm and professional under pressure Deliver outcomes and success Leadership in HE What do I want from you?

4 Listen to you and your issues, consultation Straight talking, even if it is difficult Live the values of the organisation Consistency of approach, change only when justified and beneficial To muster all the resources possible Appropriate but strategic distribution of that resource Freedom to develop your part of the university (within agreed resource envelope).
