???What is ADEA??? ADEA is the country’s leading national organization for dental education Members include all U.S. and Canadian dental schools and advanced education programs, as well as corporations ADEA is committed to maintaining the integrity of dental education through –faculty development and recruitment –Advocacy and building partnerships to ensure educational funding –establishing national networks among educators and students –promoting oral health

Council of Students, Residents and Fellows (COSRF) Board Director COSRF Administrative Board Chair Vice-Chair Secretary Member-at-Large COSRF Administrative Board Regional Representatives Student Representatives COSRF is a link between students and educators on a national level COSRF has 27 seats in the House of Delegates, the policymaking body of ADEA Each dental school is asked to send at least one representative to the ADEA Annual Session and the fall COSRF Interim Meeting

ADEA House of Delegates (ADEA HOD) The Association’s governing and legislative body Convenes twice at the ADEA Annual Session The ADEA HOD consists of the ADEA Board of Directors and all or some members of the seven ADEA Councils Votes on Resolutions to conduct business and enact or change policy

What is a COSRF delegate? Administrative Board – 5 delegates –Board Director, Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Member-at-Large Regional Representatives – 12 delegates –Two delegates for each region Non-D.D.S./D.M.D. Student Representatives – 10 delegates –Two delegates each: Hospital Based, Non-Hospital Based, Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting and Dental Laboratory Technology

COSRF Mission The mission of the ADEA COSRF is to serve as the national voice and advocate for all students in the dental education community by addressing the issues that shape the present and future of dental education

COSRF Objectives Each ADEA Council sets objectives for its constituency. ADEA COSRF objectives are: –To provide effective input into both dental and allied dental education and the Association’s activities –To stimulate students, residents and fellows to assume roles in dental and allied dental education and research –To encourage implementation of ADEA policies in ADEA Member Institutions –To recommend student consultants, through the ADEA Board of Directors, to other groups and organizations –To work in partnership with other student dental organizations to promote the involvement of students, residents and fellows in the advancement of dental education

Local Student Groups ADEA bylaws do not include provisions for local chapters Student Representatives are encouraged to support ADEA and COSRF initiatives at their schools by organizing efforts appropriate at their instituti on Some schools have large organizations and others have only a representative We have developed a template for a constitution for a school organization
