Short Answer/Essay Questions from Midterm… Question: describe the role of women in the French Revolution. Correct answer: they stormed the palace of Versailles and kidnapped the king and queen. Actual student answer: Women where treated like house wife. The could vote, runn for office, or do what men do. Actual student answer # 2: The women made food, took care of the men's bruises, sewed clothes during the French revolution.

Continued… Question: Describe Marx's philosophy on class struggles (etc) Actual student answer: Race and gender caused the struggle. He want more people to work together to lessen the job. It would be more efficient and take less time. Actual student answer # 2: Marx knew things would be hard and that it would get a little rougher as the year goes with more people in a low class. But high class will get wealthier & be more prosperite. Actual student answer # 3: Marx blamed the horrible conditions on slaves.

Actual student answer # 4: I think he was trying to state that if you have a job, try to help the people who don't have jobs. Do things together.

A few more… Question: How did Peter the Great reform Russia? Actual student answer: Peter the Great builded a bigger and stronger army. Actual student answer # 2: He introduced a wardrobe change. (ironically, that was right, but it necessitated more than a sentence!)

Question: describe the social and economic conditions that led to the French Revolution. Actual student answer: The blamed it out it on bad crops and foods that were coming & going in the factories. Question: what were the four beliefs of the anabaptists and how did other religious groups view them? Actual student answer: The Anabaptists were really disliked. Nobody I mean nobody liked them, nobody couldn't stand them. That was just because they went against everything, everybody else went against and people didn't like that.

The United States US defeated Spanish under Commodore George Dewey in Spanish-American War in 1898 US granted Philippines US president, William McKinley wanted to “civilize the Filipinos”, and wanted to keep the Philippines out of Japanese Hands

Philippines was a perfect US trading port for access to China Filipino leader Emilio Aguinaldo did not like foreign rule of his country Fought for Filipino independence for 3 years using guerilla warfare US won, US had access to Chinese markets.
