1 Visioning process Followed by the visioning exercise: what do we want transport to be like in 2055 To focus on themes such as: – How will we travel? – What public transport will we use? – What will our roads look like? – Where will our water come from? – What energy sources will we use? – What problems do you face in Tshwane with getting to work and back? – How do these problems impact on productivity, growth, working conditions etc? – What measures would you like to see in the GDS which will address these problems? – How can employers and workers work together with government to achieve these measures?

2 Visioning process What energy sources will create the most jobs and be most sustainable? What are the regulatory and policy opportunities and constraints to diversify fuel and energy sources How do we best leverage public and municipal funding of buses and other water and delivery vehicles used by government to promote the development of a sustainable heavy vehicle industry in South Africa? What role can the GDS play in building a cycle manufacturing and related industry in Tshwane? How can the freight and logistics sector including delivery and waste collection vehicles move to rail on one hand and smaller greener vehicles? What vision do you have for transport in Tshwane? How does transport impact on you? How you can contribute to improve transport in Tshwane?

3 Visioning process – What transportation measures are needed to reduce congestion, long travel times, road accidents and fatalities and improve productivity and economic growth in the City of Tshwane? – What Programmes should the City intensify or introduce to ensure sustainable empowerment of the transportation sector? – What can citizens do themselves to improve transport in the City? – What partnerships should be set up to improve transport in the City?
