7. NORRUSS  The NORRUSS programme is a social science research programme with the principal aim to expand, strengthen and renew the Norwegian research related to Russia and the High North.  NORRUSS programme periode: 2012-2016, funded by the Ministry of Foreign affairs of Norway  Covering research questions related to:  1. Challenges and possibilities in the High North.  2. Russian politics, economy and society in general, Russian policy for the Arctic/High North

8. Interdisiplinary and bilateral cooperation  The programme work closely with other research programmes in RCN, like PETROMAKS2, POLARPROGRAMME, CLIMATE, OCEAN AND SEA. These are innovation and research programmes.  RCN have cooperation agreement and joint calls with the Russian research foundations;  RFH (Russian Foundation for Humanities)  RFBR (Russian Foundation for Basic Research)  RCN (the Petromaks2 programme) have cooperation agreement with  Oil & Gas Research Institute (RAS) in Moscow  Arkhangelsk Scientific Center (RAS- Ural Branch )

Increased competitiveness and innovation in the High North First time 10 MNOK to business related research on innovation RCN funding will cover 50 % of the project cost Call open for companies in cooperation with research institutions Criteria:  Companies from all ower Norway can apply, but project activities have to take place in the High North  Activities have to include cross border cooperation with companies/ clusters/organisations in one or several of the following countries: Finland, Sverige, Russland. Open for: Companies / organisations / clusters operation within the following sectors:  marin/maritim technology,  Industrial production,  arctic technology,  Energy efficiency, renewable energy,  tourism,  minerals,  Infrastructure and transportation

18. New knowledge about Russia’s policy for the Arctic areas 10 MNOK for researcher projects Research questions: Russias economic sustainability in relation to the country’s development plans for the Arctic Region Economic and political driving forces and challenges affecting he implementation of the russian arctic policy on shore (the Arctic Zone) and offshore Russian policy for the Arctic and its implementation Russian security policy fo the Arctic Arktis. Special criteria:  Priority will be given to projects with international partners and those with potential to shed an original light on recent, current and foreseeable developments within the defined research field.
