2. Bellwork: Questions to Answer: What do you know about Shakespeare? What have you read by Shakespeare? Was it easy or difficult? Why? Why do so many people find Shakespeare difficult? Why do you think he is so well respected that his plays are on every high school reading list? And most universities offer several courses just on his works? What is the difference between tragedy and comedy? What is a universal story?

3. Homework Assignment: (due Tuesday- April 17 ) In a minimum of one page, answer the following journal questions. –What are your views on love and marriage? –How do you view the roles of women and men in love relationships? –Who should ask whom to get married? –Out on a date? –Is love necessary for marriage? »Be prepared to turn this in on Friday when we all return back to class. First test grade of the second nine weeks.

4. Layout for this unit: Notebook: You will be keeping a notebook for this particular unit. In this notebook, you will be writing assigned journals, completing handouts, and completing quizzes over each act. This notebook is a project grade and will be graded on creativity, accuracy, and overall appearance. This will be turned in on 4/25 which will also be the day of your test for this play. You will be allowed to use your notebook on your test.

5. Project Scenes You will also be “acting out” a scene from the play in a group. This scene will have a script and costumes will be needed. I will be giving you a list of scenes to choose from (momentarily) and you will be able to pick your groups. There can only be four to a group and if there is a need for “extras” you can pull from other groups for that purpose. This scene can either be acted out in class or you can create a movie for it. The language can be modern, but the script must stay true to the scene in the play.
