To move away from the narrowly defined accountability system in NCLB To have a new accountability system that uses multiple measures with goals that are unique to each school/district To have results which are more meaningful measures of the success and progress of Kansas schools KS is already doing many of the parts, i.e. common core standards 2

21 st Century Knowledge and skills that are embedded in high quality Academic and Career, Technical Education programs. Assess individual student interests and needs, and customize an individual plan of study (IPoS) based on students interests and needs. Staff are trained to meet annually/frequently with student and parents to review IPoS to guide schedules and activities. Rigorous college and career ready standards and curriculum that allows students to enter and to advance in College and Career fields. The opportunity to: earn post-secondary recognized certificates; to be a concentrator for a Career Pathway; and earn post- secondary credit. Flexible learning environment with strong comprehensive connections between school, business, community and post- secondary. Educational, career and civic exploration programs so students can navigate the world beyond high school.
