2016/06/01SA Cities Network2 Purpose of Presentation Based on the report: Recognize the fact that a lot of innovative interventions are taking place at city level although not enough to change mind set and create a paradigm shift. Suggest & inject new ways of tackling the cross-cutting issue of HIV/Aids at city level as opposed to (only within the) municipality. Propose a workable plan of action that will be driven (centrally) by the SACN and (locally) by HIV/Aids domain specialist in conjunction with city indispensable partners (CSO ’ s, business & international community)

2016/06/01SA Cities Network9 Issues Emanating From The Report Individualized, but uncoordinated, efforts are making a remarkable difference in the fight against HIV/Aids – unfortunately this is a municipality perspective IDP is not necessarily driving city wide response to HIV/Aids esp. because of its nature (unintended consequence) & therefore no mainstreaming Levels of urbanization is a major factor that drives the spread of HIV/Aids and related issues Shape and form of governing is changing, influenced to a large extent by relations with CSO and business Cornerstone Elements of a Comprehensive City Response Leadership, community mobilization, partnerships, integration, coordination, resource mobilization, inter-sector and cost recovery
