3.  Voice: “The emotional coloring” readers get from the speaker of the poem.

4.  Some questions will ask you to identify your knowledge of the definition to an example:  What literary term is present in the line, “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore!”

5.  This is an example of simile: comparing two things using the words like or as:  “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie” is comparing the moon to a pizza pie (it’s similar roundness or shape).

11.  Alliteration:  “The wolves went out again to wander the darkened paths,  With little light, they whistled at the moon.  Then the howling came.”  Repetition of initial consonant sounds.

12.  Write a quatrain of free verse poetry on the topic of school.
