This is Kodu This is the main menu Select Load world

First Tutorial – Adding a Kodu From Main Menu click on Load Worlds Click on First Tutorial Then follow the on screen instructions.

Success Criteria Add a Kodu into the world Move Kodu using the arrow keys

Click on the Home button Click Save my world Select Load World

Select: Activity 1 – Eating Apples Then click Play

Eating Apples What is Kodu doing? What is the tree doing? Can you describe the movement that is happening? Then click Play

Looking closer at the Code Press Escape [Esc] This menu appears, click on the edit characters tool.

This is the coding! There is a WHEN section and DO What do you think this code says?

Press Escape. Now look at the Trees code. What do you think this code says?

Task 1 – Add an apple into the landscape In the coding setting: 1.Right click on the landscape. 2.Select ‘Add object’ 3.Click on the apple

Task 2 – Change the colour of the apple. In the coding setting: 1.Add another apple. 2.Hover curser over the apple. A menu will appear with colours at the top. 3.Using the arrow keys change the colour to green.

Task 3 – Add a code to the Kodu. In the coding setting: 1.Click on edit object setting. 2.Right click on Kodu Program Can you make the kodu: When: see none apples Do: Move quickly. When: see apple red Do: Move toward quickly It should look like….

Independent Activity Add an apple – make it blue Select an existing apple and change its colour to blue. Make Kodu say (found under actions)‘ I am hungry’ when he bumps into the blue apple. If apples are piling up under the tree after the Kodu sequence is done, make Kodu turn around so he can see them and eat them. Can you add different objects? Can you change Kodu’s behaviour? Can you change the environment?
