www.calgaryceliac.com The Canadian Celiac Health Survey 11.7 year delay in diagnosis Mean age at diagnosis was 46 years 27% consulted 3 or more family physicians 14% consulted 2 or more GI specialists Other specialists consulted included rheumatologists, neurologists, dermatologists and others in less significant numbers

Most common associated medical conditions included: anemia, osteoporosis, lactose intolerance, hypothyroidism, RA, and IDDM 31% of female respondents reported at least one miscarriage

www.calgaryceliac.com Calgary Membership Survey 2005 >50% of members have been diagnosed 2 – 10 years. 83% of members join for themselves >30% of respondents never discuss CD with their physicians

www.calgaryceliac.com Calgary Member Restaurant Survey 2006 A lot of people eat out a lot of times a week and spend a lot of money 65% eat out 1 or 2 times a week, usually with 1 or 2 other people and 75% of the time for dinner. Most have been glutened when eating out, with 8% at least 7 times in a year. 61% rarely or never notify the restaurant when it happens 70% speak with their feet only by not returning to the restaurant.
