3 4 Basic Components of the Communication Process:

4 Sender - has an idea to communicate to a person or group

5 Message - spoken, written, nonverbal, or visual idea being sent

6 Receiver - person or group who receives the message from the sender

7 Feedback - Comments or reactions that show understanding, confusion, agreement or disagreement with the message

8 Examples of Communication Oral (verbal) Written Visual Nonverbal

9 Oral - spoken, verbal communication using dialogue between a sender and a receiver

10 Written - notes, memos, letters, that make the message more permanent

11 Visual - pictures, videos, graphics used to communicate an idea to the receiver

12 Nonverbal - body language, facial expressions, eye contact that silently communicates reactions to the message
