Practice Activity for 3 rd Graders Give class topic….. Winter Class will work together and use the graphic organizer to fill in thoughts Share examples for the students Ensure the examples are read to the class in order to understand the sound of the syllables Use elbow partner for any assistance

Assessment Activity Now you will work on your own graphic organizer New topic is……..Any animal of choice Use thesaurus to expand vocabulary Focus on thoughts, not complete sentences Assessment will be based on completion of the entire graphic organizer and the connection to the topic

Revising Put draft aside for several days for fresh start Main focus on content Read word by word (using finger) Anticipate/ meet the needs of readers through changing, adding, deleting, and rearranging content. Use proofreaders marks

Practice activity Students will read their drafts aloud to partner The partner will listen for compliments and give suggestions on how to change their drafts to make them better

Assessment Activity Students will use a red pen to make corrections. After making corrections the student will then hand it to their partner who will then revise in a different color pen.
