8 Generating Electricity Task You are going to research and produce a presentation on different ways in which electricity can be produced. Include the following: 1.What are renewable and non-renewable energy sources? Giving examples of each. 2.Give an example of two non-renewable energy resources and how they make electricity. 3.Give an example of two renewable energy resources and how they make electricity. 4.Give the advantages and disadvantages of using non- renewable energy sources to make electricity. 5.Give the advantages and disadvantages of using renewable energy sources to make electricity.

16 Electromagnetic induction or dynamo effect Michael Faraday discovered that current can be produced using a magnet and coil of wire Around every magnet is a magnetic field and if a coil of wire is moved in a magnetic field voltage is produced and current will flow. Moving a magnet in a coil of wire or coil of wire in a magnetic field produces voltage and current will flow.

17 Factors affecting the direction of the current Direction of magnet - If you move the magnet in the opposite direction, voltage changes it’s direction, so current changes it’s direction Direction of movement of coil of wire Swap the poles of the magnet
