4  Reference Rooms & Computer Files  News features ▪ May expand on a current news topic/issue ▪ Are often time limited ▪ Reporters usually use ▪ Newspaper computer archive ▪ Newspaper library  To gain knowledge of a topic/issue ▪ Plan ahead so you can research efficiently

5  Reference Resources  Magazine organizations may have ▪ Researchers ▪ Often college grads trying to move up ▪ Create vast collections of info and pictures ▪ Back issues ▪ Limited background ▪ Require writers/freelancers to do outside research

6  Libraries  Still an excellent source of information ▪ Computer/Internet ▪ Access to expensive databases ▪ Stacks ▪ Huge collection of books ▪ Some rare and not online  What is the Dewey decimal system? ▪ Periodicals ▪ Encyclopedias

9  Using Search Engines & Directories  Google, Yahoo, etc ▪ Help to narrow down the focus of research ▪ Do they promise to turn up credible information ▪ Let’s try to find some things online
