Mission Working together for safer communities Underlying Principles ● Combination of surveillance, programming and support ● Provide interventions to the higher risk offender ● Provide the right intervention at the right time to the right offender

Who is Served? ● Adult Felons released from prison ● Work release Felons – in partial confinement ● Felons released from jail into the community

Staffing ● One community corrections supervisor ● Seven community corrections officers (probation and parole) ● Five correctional officers/work crew supervisors ● Transitional corrections counselor ● Psychology Associate ● Contract chemical dependency staff ● Clerical Staff

Programming ● Cognitive/behavioral programs ● MRT ● Getting it right ● Anger stress management ● Parenting skills ● Job Assistance ● Housing Information ● Support enforcement information ● Food/Cooking class

Drug/Alcohol Treatment ● Intensive Outpatient ● Outpatient ● Co-occurring disorders ● Assessments

Mental Health ● Three CCOs specializing in mental health cases ● A psych associate offering triage and community resources ● Chemical dependency counselor specializing in co- occurring disorders ● Transitional counselor specializing in transitioning those with mental health problems from jail or prison

Surveillance ● Intensive case management ● Daily/frequent reporting ● Electronic home monitoring ● Urinalysis ● Work crew

Support The underlying principal is people who are hungry, homeless, sick and penny less do not learn ● Bus passes with STA ● Food certificates with Rosauers ● Clothes and some basic household furnishings ● Miscellaneous – Walmart cards ● Some medications – Walmart cards

How is this Accomplished? ● Individualized case management ● Initial daily reporting ● Arrange assessment and classes ● Do 40 hours of community service ● Gradually reduce surveillance with successful programming

Challenges ● Coordinating with county and city corrections professionals ● Sharing a unified risk assessment ● Eliminate duplication of services ● Discussing barriers and possible solutions ● Offender centered not system centered
