Short Term Goals ■ To develop proficiency in IT skills along with integrating the core subjects with IT ■ To involve and encourage students’ participation by providing opportunities to excel as individuals and monitoring their performance through positive feedback and rewards ■ To encourage their higher order learning to enabling them to think critically

I will co ordinate the materials taught in Social Studies on “Population” I will relate the children’s previous knowledge to how any data gathered can become meaningful and useful to us if presented in an organized way.

I will have an oral discussion on what “Population” is?, How population is calculated?, what statistical importance does population has? Why and how the data collected is presented in an organized fashion?

I will teach ways to the students what importance does it carries to present and organizing data using the software Black cat Information workshop I will explain the tools of the software for searching the data for extracting relevant information and sorting data for making the data easy to understand I will teach how to make different types of graphs to represent data so the data can be analyzed. E.g. Pie charts, line charts and Bar charts

I will ask questions from the students which they will answer in written on their printouts by analyzing the data from the graphs they created. For e.g. Compare the two charts for the year 1998 and write down the highest and lowest population of the provinces

I will evaluate the understanding of the students by the analysis they performed on the collected information how they are enable to derive and interpret the information from the graphically represented data

ANTICIPATED CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

Challenge: I need to thoroughly understand the concepts being taught in the core subjects to reinforce them while teaching the IT Skills to the students Solution: I will pre plan my lectures, will attend subject coordination meetings to keep abreast with what is being taught in the curriculum of core subjects in the classroom. Challenge: I need to be keep myself updated with the latest technological developments to prepare my students for the coming tomorrow Solution: I will browse the internet for latest technological development to become the window for my students through which they can peep into the challenges of tomorrow

In this global marketplace, our kids need to learn the proper skills and gain hands-on, real-world experience if they hope to keep abreast with the modern times.”
