ICEL He is truly risen! Apostolicum: 170 AD, Tertia die resurrexit a mortuis: At the third day resurrected from the dead. Nicea: 325 AD, Et resurrexit tertia die secundum scripturas: and resurrected according to the Scriptures on the third day. The Cross the 6 th day, Good Friday Resting in the tomb the 7 th day, Saturday Resurrection 1 st day of the week, Sunday Daybreak! Start of the New creation!

ICEL Arguments …Its first disappointment was over the crucifixion. The Man came to life again. In a sense-and I realize how frightfully unfair it must seem to them-that has been happening ever since. They keep on killing the thing that He started: and each time, just as they are patting down the earth on its grave, they suddenly hear that it is still alive and has even broken out in some new place. No wonder they hate us… C.S. Lewis, “Mere Christianity

ICEL John’s sequence of revelation in John 20 Mary Magdalene 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” Thomas 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” 28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

ICEL Peter: Fisherman becomes shepherd John 21:1-3 1 Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias. It happened this way: 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. 3 “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.

ICEL The catch on the other side John 21:11-12 11 Simon Peter climbed aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19

ICEL More than these? John 21:15-19 15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

ICEL Three times … 16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you truly love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you. Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” 17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep”.

ICEL Follow me 18 I tell you the truth, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, "Follow me!”

ICEL Not restore but extend… Acts 1:6-8 6 So when they met together, they asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

ICEL So send I you Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end… Isaiah 11: 4 …with righteousness he will judge the needy… Isaiah 42:4 he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth… John 20:21 21 As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”
