WHAT IS RSS? In Simple Terms: RSS RSS is a simple yet effective way of keeping up-to-date when new information is added to a website, without visiting the website to check for updates. Why Use RSS: RSS RSS solves a problem that exist for people who regularly use the web. It allows you to stay informed by retrieving the lasted information from the sites you’re interested in.

HISTORY OF RSS 1997 – Dave “Winer develops scriptingNews. RSS was born. 1999 – Netscape develops RSS 0.9o (which supported scriptingNews). This was simply XML with an RDF Header. 1999 – Dave Winer at userLand develops scripting 2.0b1 (this included Netscape’s RSS 0.90 features)… 2000 – Dave Winer at UserLand develops RSS 0.92 2002 – Dave Winer develops RSS 0.92 2003 – The official RSS 2.0 specification is released
